Tim Hess
Tim Hess is the President and Design Director of Studio InSitu Architects, a collaborative design firm working to enrich the meaning we derive from the spaces and places in our lives.
Hess is a past chair of the Maynard Cultural Council and steered that group through state designation of the Assabet Village Cultural District. His place-making approach helped to shape the framework and goals for the District, identifying four place-assets of unique value, and outlining a series of special events to initiate cycles of exploration, imagination, planning, and investment in those places.
Tim is leading InSitu’s work as Peer Reviewer for certain proposals heard by the Town of Maynard Planning Board. In that capacity, Hess seeks to help developers and the town manifest those projects’ potential to enrich community, culture, and commerce in Downtown Maynard.
Hess holds a professional Bachelors of Architecture from Cornell University, accreditation from the Congress for the New Urbanism, and a certificate from the network for Social Economic Environmental Design. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and is licensed to practice Architecture in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. He is a Director of the Maynard Business Alliance, a Corporator of Emerson Hospital, and sits on the Maynard High School Senior Project steering committee.
Tim lives in Maynard with his wife Natalie and their new baby Charlotte!
