ArtSpace Re-Framed: Arts for the Community

2022 Capital Campaign

Since 2001 ArtSpace Maynard has been the cornerstone of Maynard’s arts and culture community and an integral part of the local creative economy. Our events and programming — open studios, holiday sales, art openings, arts education classes, musical performances, tours and more — have engaged and inspired art enthusiasts of all ages and attracted thousands of people to Maynard from as far away as the West Coast and as close as the adjacent towns.

“ As an artist at ArtSpace and a Maynard resident, I value the community of artists as well as the relationships I’ve built with colleagues, business owners, and town leadership through sharing my art. ArtSpace is the flagship of arts and culture of Maynard — meeting the goals of this campaign means a lot to the town and the entire region!”

— Priscilla Alpaugh Cotter, ArtSpace tenant and Board Member

Today we need your immediate assistance to support our mission, and by extension, the enhanced quality of life that the local cultural and arts community brings to the people of Maynard and the region.

ArtSpace has an ambitious goal of raising $1.25 million to get our studio program back up and running. We’ve made excellent progress, raising close to $700,000 through grants, foundation gifts, private donations and corporate sponsorships.

ArtSpace is a community whose creative energy is embedded in the town of Maynard’s culture. By making a generous contribution to our organization, you can help ensure that we continue to serve, inspire, and bring vibrancy to the metro-west region for our next 20 years and beyond.

We are already 45% of the way to our goal. In addition to private donations, the Massachusetts State Senate has secured $50,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for ArtSpace, the Massachusetts Cultural Council has approved a $150,000 matching grant for ArtSpace through its Cultural Facilities Fund, and the State House of Representatives has earmarked an additional $275,000 to benefit ArtSpace. We are sincerely grateful for the continued support of our state representatives!

“ We have volunteered to co-chair ArtSpace’s first capital campaign because we understand what a vital part of the community ArtSpace is. Through various events and programming over the years, our artists have connected with thousands of people by sharing their art and talent. Our goal is to bring so much more to the community in the months and years ahead.”

— Denise Shea and Steve Weiner, ArtSpace Re-Framed co-chairs

Our dedicated artists, performers, teachers, and staff share a mindset of exploration and creativity, and eagerly look forward to welcoming the public back to our building. With your help we can return to our full slate of events, develop even more exciting arts programming for children and adults, and forge partnerships with other organizations in Maynard and beyond.
